Prince George’s County (MD) did not have an application for tracking crime, so we built CrimeBlotter.org in 2006. We unsuccessfully tried to donate/give away this application to the administration of County Executive Jack Johnson and his successor, Rushern Baker. We had several exchanges of emails with County Council members and many municipal leaders, but found none with the imagination to embrace this technology for empowering citizens.

In mid-2011, we closed down this application after serving over 200,000 visitors and prospective home buyers who wanted to see crime in the communities before making the biggest investment of their life.

Over last 2 years, we have shared the source code of this application with over 50 counties and cities that have enhanced our application and deployed crime tracking tools on their websites.

You can contact shukoor at v-empower.com to get source code of this application for free.
